Left By You

by Roisin Branigan

In between unsurity

Feelings of impurity

You stole my innocence

and left without a trace

You hurt me

So deeply

Parts of me

that have not yet been uncovered

have been poisoned

How dare you

touch my soul

with dirty hands

Your skin

Sickenly warm

making my blood run cold

Crooked intentions

Painted with a crooked smile

I hope you bruise

like I did

And your bones ache like mine

when you realise you’ve taken something

that cannot be given back

Sometimes I still taste you

on my smudged lipstick

My mascara running

because I couldn’t

I long for the moment

My body is anew;

no longer stained with fingerprints

Left by you
